So just testing out the blog here. It's time to head off - Hopefully I've done enough training to get through. If not, it will be a nice view from the sag wagon that will be following us around!

2016 was the year of the false starts for me. My Strava account seems to be littered with a month of getting to a point where every ride doesn't bring forth a day or two of pain - then followed by a month of two of relapse into nothingness - only to start the road to recovery yet again. Well, it's a new year and resolutions and all that. I've managed to get over the first hump and maintained some semblance of consistency since Christmas. However, I'd have to still classify myself as a recovering cyclist at the moment.
Topping out at Tallowa
So an 80km round trip out to Tallowa Dam probably wasn't the best idea, but I knew what I was in for and there were a bunch of us going so the plan was to hide in the pack and see how far I got.
As it turns out, I got pretty far, though I opted out of the final Tallowa Dam climb - I knew I had Berry to come and I needed to leave some fuel in my shrunken tank to make it home. So the gang headed down to the dam while I lolled about at the top, supposedly stretching, but mostly just bludging. Lucky I did though.
The bunch split after getting back to KV and the fit group headed off for another 50km and a climb over Mount Scanzi. The rest of us took the 'shortcut' back through KV and over Berry Mountain. I hit the climb just as I hit the wall! Couldn't sit - hurt. Couldn't stand - hurt. Couldn't stop - hurt. And I should be able to swan over this. Oh well next time.
BikeAboutBerry is based in Berry, a small historic village in the Shoalhaven region of the NSW South Coast. While this site focuses on road cycling in the area, there is also plenty of mountain biking to be had in the area.
